Looks like they did some pretty greasy stuff to get out of paying their employees overtime. They deserve to get fined.

Agreed..... that's pure greediness. Too bad they didn't report what these companies profits were during these times.

All 4 are within 2 miles radius. I wonder if a new competitor turned them in?

Sad, Sad, situation. Some of these places are making big$$$$. I would venture to guess many of these employees are probably making minimum wages but owners still chose to stick it to them. Big man in the sky doesn't sleep as they say.

Minimum wage is exactly what it's supposed to be. It's not intended to be a lifelong pay scale. You either develop a skill, further an education, or move up the ladder to raise your pay. It's only there to insure that people with no skills or experience can't be low balled upon starting a job.

I agree with this. But the problem is getting those in these jobs to understand this.

They want the "big bucks" now.

While I 100% agree with your statement, it has nothing to do with the article.

Seems more like a tax evasion scheme than an effort to treat employees poorly.

As a customer, I would not worry about it. Just enjoy the good boudin.

The workers may have been better off getting the cash...The owners don't have to pay the taxes...The workers don't pay the taxes...Up to a certain amount the earned income credit kicks in....Food stamps...Housing subsidy...Free insurance...My wife is a store manager for a big company . She has lost a lot of good workers because they were better off on the government . Most of those she has just want enough to get by government regs...Just looking for a lil extra cash...No ambition to get ahead whatsoever...It is amazing some of the excuses they come up with not to come to work...Those business that got caught ain't but a drop in the bucket...

That's how I feel about it. I live about a mile away from all 3. Romero's will feel the fine more than Don's or Billy's no doubt.
