Do ya'll cook it all at once? I use my grandma's method which is to boil then drain the cabbage, then mix it in with the onions, ham etc.. and "smother it"

Cabbage is an all time favorite of mine.
My grandparents are from Albany, Louisiana the hungarian settlement there.......cabbage was a mainstay........

Cabbage with dill sauce poured over it......

Oh hell yes.

We boiled crawfish this weekend and had some left. Three heads of home grown cabbage with left over crawfish. Talk about good. Put a hurting on the cabbage and me.

If you are really a cabbage fan try this: First make a good cornbread in a cast iron skillet. Now cook your favorite chilli without beans in it. Now cut up a head of cabbage and add it to your chilli. You might need to add a little water also. LEt your cabbage steam in there. When ready cut you a hunk of cornbread and put it in a bowl and cover with chilli cabbage. Now that is good!
