To me it's not all about the ice. That's cheap. Is about durability. You wont find an ice chest better built than the yetis IMO. The K2s are nice but the latches look very cheap and not very durable. It's all personal preference of course but if I'm gonna spend the money I'm gonna buy something that lasts. And the yeti seems to be a lifetime icechest.

The rubber latches will dry rot in a controlled environment, rubber bands go bad in a drawer, tires go bad in a warehouse. The latches on yetis and others will still need replacing along with the gaskets to maintain a seal, or the latches will break. The box is lifetime, but components will go if used outdoors in 5 years I bet. That's why they "sell" replacements.
Even so, I will still be buying a K2 and keeping Coleman's on hand for beating around. The sting is way less noticeable when you leave one at a buddies, or get one yanked out of your truck. |

Lol, we went to Joseph's one day when I was in high school and racked up. Had 3 limits of reds with a nice hangover, I fell asleep in the back seat on the way bak ad I guess the trailer dipped off the road and hit a nice bump... Got home and the ice chest was gone, no fish to clean!!! I've never left an ice chest in the boat since unless its strapped, strapped!!

not sure about the icechests, but the yeti hats are much cooler than the K2 hats and haven't really seen many people with Coleman hats

K2 hands down ..... Excellent product and excellent people standing behind it.
I have many of them and will continue to support them, I abuse some of these coolers and I can't seem to break them Capt. Kade Shaw |

I have 2 Colemans and a Yeti(Christmas present). They are all good. The Yeti is too heavy for it's size, but a good ice chest. For the money, the Coleman is a better buy, you can buy 5 for the price of a Yeti, and they are much lighter.
My nephew and brother in law have had several K2's. They all leaked either from the feet or the drain plug. They were replaced several times, under warranty, till they got some that didn't leak. They hold ice good too, but heavy. And for the price, you wouldn't think they would leak when new. If you leave the high end heavy coolers in your boat, it isn't bad. But if you move them a lot, heavy isn't the way to go. For fishing one day, I like my Coleman. Especially the one on wheels. |

I have a Coleman. In the middle of the summer ice will not make it through the day.
Got a K2 and so far very happy with it. Haven't had it out in the summer yet, but deer hunting it has done great. |

I use mine during Contraband Days on my big boat. One for food and one for drinks. The food one lasts about 3 days. The drink cooler about 2 days cause I go in it more. I put the cooler in the house the night before, then load with cold drinks, not hot drinks. Then blue blocks from the freezer, then ice on top. The ice will freeze to the blue blocks and last a lot longer than without. If you want it to last longer, use block ice and break into chunks. The bigger the ice chunks, the longer they will last. If you put hot drinks in a hot cooler, the ice won't last long at all. |

U tell me! I had an 8 pack of water a 12 pack of beer in it!
That SOB had some weight to it too. It all boils down to never leave ur ice chest riding behind ur lean post or racing seats and y'all be fine! |

I saw a 90qt igloo start levitating behind my leaning post running about 60 mph on the water, but it was empty, and half the weight of a yeti! I have a 50 qt yeti that rides in the damdest of places, like on top my tool box in the truck, or the deck of a boat in rough water, and the dam thing sticks like glue! That's the only reason I ask! I sure hope no one clipped it off of ya! Last edited by Wide Open; 02-24-2013 at 09:55 PM. |
