I recently bought a Castaway pro sport 6'7" med-light and I love it for throwing tails and mirrodines.

Also have a 6'9" allstar jerk bait rod I use for tops and corkies that I like a lot as well.

OCR 7' 6" popping rod with long full size cork handle. You have to file a flight plan for your jig head/soft tail bait!

Sarge Free Bird or S.O.A.R. for corky's 7 ft med, light tip.

I like my duces rods and threw them for years, but Sarge makes a heck of a road once you fish with it, it is hard to put down.

I put together a couple rods on sarge blanks and now have no use for the rest of my rods.

H&H Backcountry is what I grab most often. I own a dozen of the H&H rods spinning and bait casting. Just great sticks.

I have the Sarge, the BillyStix, original AllStars, Castaways, St Croix, etc - but for trout and reds the Backcountry is the one I grab first - Curado or Chronarch 50 or 100.

It has a stout enough base to handle bruiser reds and a soft enough tip to permit flip casting soft plastics. I have caught lots of trout throwing 1/8 jig heads and a dozens of reds 34 to 44 inches on that stick.

Light, strong, sensitive. Made in SW Houston by a Sugarland FireFighter. He owns his tooling for his blanks too. Worth a look. Very good pricing for the top quality he builds. I like the foam slit grip shown in this pic, but he will do cork too.

I'm looking for a new trout rod too. Was looking at the Falcon Bucoo Micro. What is your top choice rod?

Waterloo Hp lite with stealth handle is best rod I've ever fished. Lots of people dislike them because they're a little expensive, but they're worth every penny!!!
Definitely don't get a DUCE, they support CCA!!!

Well my fav rod has been Duce rods for the passed 4 years... but now that they have joined with CCA i will not support them. For the price i really like the waterloo phantom they sell at academy. The 7' med light for plastics and the 6'8" med for tops and mirrordines.

Whats everyones favorite academy rod or at least the gem. Yes I know they aren't 300 dollar rods but still. Seems like st. croix and waterloo lead the pack at academy.

They quit carrying the high dollar Falcons, but every now and then you can find a good one. I like the Buckoo with micro guides.

I have a falcon 7 foot medium bucco and just picked up a 7 foot shimano crucial. I like the crucial a little bit better because of their reel seat. I can got a lot of fingers touching that blank and I think that's why it seems more sensitive. Unfortunately they epoxy coated the entire rod and use standard guides. I like the micro guides and lighter finish that falcon puts on their bucco series.
