Default Grand Isle July 22-24

Anyone going to be in Grand Isle the 22nd thru the 24th?
Planning on bringing my little boat and I'll have room for an extra man if anyone is interested... I've never been there so don't expect much.

Fishing out of a 1544 Aluminum boat so I'll be confined to the areas around the island mostly.
May do a little surf fishing also.

It will be my first time there so any suggestions of fishing spots are welcome.

put in by the 3rd bridge towards fourchon where everyone else puts in. put in on the gulf side and fish that marsh. we did really well there july 4th. protected from the weather and caught some nice fish. even when no one else was catching crap(weather was aweful that weekend)

I'll be launching at Bridgeside most likely since our camp is within walking distance... I may even dock overnight there... I'll check that area out as it's not too far of a run from Bridgeside... Thanks for the help

yea, I really would especially in a small boat like that. its a really protected area so you wont get pounded by wind and waves and you can still catch a good bit of fish. and the water is really clean back there even when the weather is nasty. you stand a good chance of fighting to fish in a small boat like that around there. itd have to be really calm in order to not fight the trolling motor with the wind/waves/other boats. back there, no one is back there and its all in the marsh. you can get on some decent trout and some nice reds. we picked up 31 specks, 10 reds, and 2 flounder without ever getting more that 200-300 yards from hwy 1. good luck

Fished down by that roadway this afternoon... I was able to get out of the wind a bit but the SW wind was still really tough in that marsh system... I was BARELY able to get my boat back on the trailer there... haha!

I did cast net for some mullet there and came back by the jetties near the pass and picked up several trout this evening on live mullet... they were eating that pretty good... all small trout and a one small red... going to hit the pier by the bridge tonight!

I'll keep you guys posted!
