Get some Ginger capsules from gnc start eating them 2-3 days b4 your trip . Ginger is used to settle stomachs . Also start eating Bonnine 24 hrs prior so it's built up in your system. While on the boat avoid greasy fatty foods instead eat fruit and other "lite" foods drink lots of water . If u do start to get sick do not lay down Instead concentrate on a fixed object like an oil platform or the horizon

Ginger works as well as or better than the over the counter stuff like Dramamine and won't make you sleepy.

Already mentioned things such as Bonine (I find it does not make you as sleepy as Dramamine), etc. help. Scopalamine patch is good but you need a scrip from a Doc and it does make you sleepy (cut it and only using half helps) Don't ride in an enclosed cabin stay outside if you can. Pressure bands for your wrists were available at places such as West Marine. These bands help with the psychological aspect of sea sickness in that you know you've taken something to help so mentally you should not feel bad. Keeping your eyes on the horizon, even keeping your head upright while little things such doing things such as tying hooks also helps. If you do get sick while offshore have them drop you off on a rig for awhile and if its too rough to do that, jump in the water for awhile with a life jacket on and tether yourself with a rope attached to the boat and see if this helps relieve symptoms.

Default sea sickness prevention

A local ENT Doc, here in shreveport who use to be a flight surgeon with the airforce, told me the airforce did a study on motion sickness with pilots, and the best medication for preventing it was ritalin, same as they use for hyperactive kids, he actually prescribed some for a friends wife who was going on a cruise, she did great.

I try to look at something stationary and not focus on the boat rocking.
