EDGE/AMBUSH boats

Ok Fellas... who all on here runs either of these two rigs? Im thinking about going to one of these two boats. It will be a fishing boat only. I want Large front deck w storage, Some type of Livewell, and Hopefully some kind of Rear deck storage. I will be buying a Hull and trailer only. Ill be using my stock M40D on which ever i buy for a while until i upgrade to a newer 4stroke. Hoping to see 37-38mph loaded to fish. Alot of ppl are getting the EDGE boats but they seem over priced to me and have very little storage. Ambush is offering a removeable livewell now from what im seeing online. Although their isnt much to see from them online. Anyone have any input on either of these boats?

Why don't you call me and set up a time to come and look at mine. I have, in my opinion, the best combo of marsh rig and calm big lake boat". I run a 1556 with a huge front deck, rear enclosed with gun trays on both sides. My tohatsu 40/50 would push it about 40 with 2 guys, 3 batteries, 82# thrust motorguide, and fishing gear. If your M40D is stock, it should run 35-38 mph with the same load. PM sent with my number.

First thing you need to realize is that these hulls are not your grandpas old boats. Both brands you named are sold as "high performance" hulls, and they are. So don't expect to pay volkswagon prices for corvettes. With both brands, you get what you pay for. If you're price shopping, maybe you should look at WeldBilt or any other cookie cutter boat. If you're looking for a boat that will outrun and out perform all others, you're looking at the right boats.
I can tell you that ALL Ambush hulls are 100 gauge, it is not an upgrade to get 100 gauge. Every Ambush is built to YOUR specifications, no cookie cutter "stock" boats. That's why you have trouble finding dealers with these boats laying around their yards, they are all built to your specification. You can change configuration until the time your boat goes into production, then that's it. Right now, the wait time is about 6-8 weeks. Waitin on your call.

The front deck is 6'3" from the bow cap to the rear of the deck, it is 61" wide at the widest point. The rear deck is 32" long and 64" wide at the widest point. The other picture is the storage hatch open.
Under the re4ar deck I have: 2 batteries and a 6 gallon fuel tank. Inside the front storage I have an onboard charger, 1 deep cycle battery, life jackets, tools, and room for a person.
In the last pic you can see the gun trays. They are handy when fishing. I usually have about 40 baits on the front deck. If I want to run somewhere else, I throw all the baits in the gun tray and blast off. When I get where I'm going, I put my baits back on the front deck.
With this boat you have to be careful. They do not slide, they will turn like a slot car. If your passenger is sitting on the cooler, he will go swimming if you turn hard, the boat will turn----he won't. If I plan to make a hard run, like black bayou, I put my passenger sitting on the floor, harder to lose him that way.

The top rail is slotted to slide 5"16ths bolt heads into the slot and you can move them all the way forward or anywhere from the transom to the front. Comes in handy to bolt stuff down, like a scream handle, a tachometer box, whatever.

Here is the tach box. It holds a water pressure gauge, a switch to turn the tach power off, and the tach.

Scott, it seems to be the best all around boat I have owned. I was surprised how dry the ride across big lake was. Runs pretty good too. The 56" bottom makes it float high in the marsh.

Not at all. The angle of the pod is perfect. You turn about 45 degrees and your feet are right in the center, it's natural for your left hand to be on the tiller.

I wouldn't mind getting something like that down the road when I don't have so many irons in the fire.

That's a sweet setup, I used to have a 1548 SeaArk that I thought was wide great for calm days on Big Lake and the marsh. That ambush looks like a 2 person fishing machine.

i have an 18x42 and have been on the fence about these boats for a while. i have just gotten used to all of the room in my boat with fishing with two people, even 3 people it is nice.

but i do want to upgrade. my question is, what would your preference be for either of these boats, a 656 or 756. i have a 3cyl 40merc, i am not looking to break any speed records but i want my boat to run at best potential. any info would help. thanks
