Educating Women in Science and Engineering

Women need and deserve as much education as men. That in itself may sound sexist, but it's not intended to.
Some real life observations: 1) Engineering and geological females in the oilfield, particularly on offshore drilling rigs, often got too much attention/flirting. In a fairly high percentage, I recall discrimination issues and financial settlements. anyway, also 2) Divorce rates of newly graduating RN Nurses used to be at about 75% in North Georgia. My 2nd Ex also followed that trend. I used to think RN's rocked! Still, it's a changing world and today, both men and women need to be educated, and work. The religious aspects vary, depending on upbringing and needs. Last edited by Jrchip1; 09-15-2016 at 12:00 PM. |

I'm passing this along to my sister who just started college, great read and mimics a lot of what I have been working to instill in her.
Love the part about this being a way to free a girl from getting stuck in a crappy relationship because they end up feeling too dependent. I believe this is pet of the reason you see so many girls getting into another relationship before they are out of another one, or immediately after they get out of one. Granted, my wife doesn't work and I spoil her so she can't leave me....! |

There are other cases, of course, where a woman can use her newfound financial freedom to behave badly (just as men do). But the bottom line for me is that educated women have lots of options, and they should have lots of options, especially given the number of situations where less educated women end up staying in unfaithful and abusive relationships. I certainly don't mind women who choose to stay home with the children, but I prefer that they not be forced into that role against their will if they recognize different callings. |

Here is a great example of a woman engineer.

Nothing prevents some great guy from spoiling a daughter with a good education, but the lack of options and independence has caused many a young lady to feel stuck in a bad relationship. I don't mind women who can make sandwiches, but women are capable of much, much more. |
