Default Venice Trip

My son wants to go deep sea fishing in Venice for his senior trip. I know nothing about fishing in this area. So my questions are when is a good time to go and a good charter to use? The price will depend on the number of days we do this. I have been looking on line, but that doesn't always tell you everything.

Me and several other people on here have been with Deep South Charters http://www.deepsouthcharters.com/ multiple times, and I ve never heard of anybody having a bad time. Some trips more fish were caught than others but we always had fun. I also recommend Captains Eddie Burger and Peace Marvel

I second both Capt Josh Howard w/ www.DeepSouthCharters.com and Capt Eddie Burger with http://fishvenice.com/ .

I have fished with Capt Josh Howard probably 15 times in the last 4 years. If I ever need to book a trip and Capt Josh is booked, Capt Eddie Burger would be my next best choice. I've never fished with him personally but have follow him on FaceBook and spoke with him on the dock for a few years now. I'm very impressed. You can't go wrong with either operation!

Meaux is dead on. How many people do you have? May be putting a tuna trip together soon.

The 2 I recommended specialize in tuna trips. I've been to grand isle and venice. IMO grand isle is better atmosphere. Especially for your sons senior trip there is more to do there restaurants etc. venice you're limited to venice marina and if you fish late you might not eat because the restaurants in venice close early. Happened to us last year. Fished a lil late and missed out on supper. Either way you go you're going to catch tuna. My next trip will be back to grand isle.

If you go with Grand Isle I would also recommend Reel Addiction Charters and Tuna Time Charters. You can catch Tuna year round in the gulf. Sept-April is usually bigger fish closer but not as many bites, May-August is greater numbers of smaller fish and a little farther of a run.

I'd want to fish Venice when the MS river was low & when the winds are light. This usually happens during the summer and into fall.

When you are fishing 60-80 miles offshore the height of the river has zero affects.

I agree better chance at having calm seas during summer months.

And no fog to worry about delaying a trip.

Around Graduation time the weather will be a lot more bearable. The options will also be different.

true..my perspective is from a smaller boat operator who likes to fish when the rip is close in! Which wouldn't be a concern for a large charter boat.
