bait quick change techniques

was thinking of rigging a few leaders with different baits and a loop on the end, then having a snap swivel on my line to be able to switch between the baits easily. I figure the swivel will be far enough up the line to not cause a problem.

Does anyone do this? If not is there a better way to quick change baits. Keep in mind when the boat has 4 or 5 people on it I only bring 2 rods, so having 6 rods loaded isn't an option.

Direct tie is best, frequent cut line and re-tie is not a bad idea when fishing around oysters anyway. I have used dual lock snaps, it like a swivel but just the snap part. It works but some days fish are picky and don't like the snaps.

I attach that to the bait. The one alpha posted is more durable than the one I posted. I use both.

tony clips are nice. only place I've seen to buy them is daley's hunt and fish in Port Arthur texas

well the one that alphaman posted looks nice and durable but no way to attach a swivel to it. so do you tie a loop knot to the clamp?

Railside Supply has some very small, high test swivels and snap swivels. They are tiny and strong, and I had only seen them in Texas until this point (they may not have them anymore, been a while since I went in).

They are popular with the trout fisherman in south Texas, or at least the guys I met - their water tends to be very clear and these things are so small they claim it doesn't affect anything.

The ones that alpha and myself posted, i just tie them to the end of my line and clip bait on. No swivel. If i'm fishing with a leader it is hand tied with clip tied to it.

You can attach a swivel to it. you can in clamp one side

I was under the impression that a swivel was necessary to keep the clamp from twisting the line. Is that not the case?

I haven't have a problem with line twist

all this is for the new redfish rig Im putting together Fenwick 6-6 medium fast action rod with penn battle 3000 and 20lbs FINS braid line. Really looking forward to trying it out

i just cut and retie. I like having my line attached directly to my jighead. Knot position on that eye can sometimes help your action
