Default Washing machine trouble!!

Well I was having a nice Thursday. Getting rags and decoys and such ready for our big hunt this weekend when the wife calls and says I need to come home right now. I get home to find water from one end of the house to the other. Apparently the water pump went out and it kept cycling and kept adding water and overflowing? I'm not familiar with this but does this sound like water pump to y'all? I already took the water pump off. Was pretty easy. Let's just hope that's the problem.

I had the same thing happen a month ago. Wife came home to water coming out of every door. I heard its a little check valve that gets stuck if you wash really dirty gritty clothes. It only does it on the super load setting but works normal on large or small load setting.

Default washing machine

Along the same lines I've heard of a few people who's hoses burst on the washing machine when away for vacation and therefore flooding the house. Something I never thought about before. but now I turn the hot and cold water to the washer off now before we go on an extended trip

Fyi have been told that flood insurance covers this, maybe Raymond can chime in. If I'm right it would cover damaged flooring and/or anything damaged from the water.

That's not flood(rising water) it's covered under reg homeowners policy. If you plan to sell within 3 yrs might rethink claim because water claims are bad news.

If you got the pump off just go ahead and buy a new one, it could also be a clogged drain hose. Appliance parts are pretty cheap.

What brand is it?

My neighbor thought his freezer went out, turns out it was just a clogged drain line and it caused the water to rise in the drain pan which in turn tripped a shut off switch. All he had to do was defrost it, clean out the little hose and he was back in business.

Yea ima change the pump. Hope that's what it is. It's not the drain I checked that. My buddy is a plumber he came over and looked at it. He said it looked like water pump to him.

Went through a similar water problem back in 2004. Cold water hose broke on the washing machine and when the wife woke up that morning she woke me up an asked if it was raining outside. It could have been a lot worse.

I rented a carpet cleaning maching to suck up the water in the carpet. Must have gotten 2 galons from the carpet. The kitchen had ~3/4" of water before I got the water valve closed. Water was coming out 30 feet away on the front porch.
