Need good advice
the gun spent the last few years out in a storage room before i got it. The reciever, lever, loading tube and barrel all have various amounts of surface rust, ( more so on the barrel.) My question is will i lesson the value by brushing. steel wool and reblueing? Is blueing the best way (cheapest ) to go? |

Lots of oil and a light brush would be my first step.

Stainless steel wool is softer than the blueing, but harder than the rust. Use that. It'll take the rust off without damaging what's under it. Use the finest you can find.

If I were you I'd talk to somebody that restores guns professionally and see what they say.
