Personally I have went to LEWS reels. I have always been a Abu Garcia fan but after trying lews I have swapped over. They sell a speed spool for 99.00 and I have been fishing them for two years. Opened them all up this spring to clean them but they were all like new on the inside. I use my reels for both fresh and salt with zero issues. Just my personal favorite and best bang for buck under 100.00.

H2o xpress mettle. $50 at academy. They go on sale for $25-$30 before christmas. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.

I've got a bunch of reels. Probably more than I logically should have. Maybe not the coolest answer, but for a weekend warrior, I fish A LOT. And, as far as I'm concerned, the H2O Mettle is the best bang for the buck.

For $50, you can't go wrong with H2o Express. 1 year, no questions asked, warranty. It actually performs the same as, if not better, than my Curado. Longevity is still in question, but so far so good

Where do you bring it for the warranty? I am having issues with 2 of them now I picked up around Christmas.

i had the chance to throw a lews speed spool this weekend. I was very impressed with how smooth it was. This is probably what my next reel will be.

Brought mine in to Academy last week and they have me store credit for the retail on it + tax. Came out to around $53.
