Which pound power pro braid for a redfish/trout baitcaster setup?

I am about to try power pro braid for my redfish/trout setup. I am running a Shimano Curado 200HG. Which size line of power pro do you guys suggest for a first time braid user on a baitcaster? Trying to prevent birdsnests. Thanks

I like 30. Doesn't seem to dig in as much as lighter test.

I have 50 pound test on mine. I try to match the thickness of the braid to the thickness of the mono I would use. I use Sufix 832, so 50 pound braid is the same thickness as 12 pound mono.

30# most of the time to 15-20# fluoro/mono leaders.

Depending on which knot you tie to join the lines going to 40 or 50 # braid can make it a little large with a less fluid feel passing through the guides.

Plus I find I get a tad bit more casting distance out of 30/40 than say 50 without the dig in of 20. With a well set drag I find 30 to be a good compromise. Also I somtimes feel depending on the lure and water depth the 30 may allow for a better presentation than larger lines.

If you happen to get a second combo I would recommend 30 for the Trout and 40 for the Reds.

Also don't forget to apply tape or a short peice of mono or fluoro to your arbor prior to winding your power pro on while filling the reel to prevent line slippage on the arbor while setting the hook or cranking in a hog.

I'm actually going to try the sufix 832 instead. Most of my buddies have been switching to it.

^ heard windtamers the **** but I use 25 slick 8 and 25 flours leader. Have nice video of 40 bull red caught on it if your not thinking it will do the job.

Main reason I'm trying it is because of all the hype. I love trying new things and finding what works best for me and the way I fish.

I run 40 on my bait caster with a 30 lb floro leader, don't need the 40, but I don't like it digging into the spool. and even at 40 it still does at times. IF I catch a good size reds that's all about the fight Ill throw it a few times and try to spot any problems in the spool and real it in quickly. Im running power pro slick

Why fish with braid for trout? I understand its sensitivity and toughness, but there isn't much structure you have to pull trout out of. Catching fish with string that allows a little stretchiness is so much more fun, every fish feels much bigger than what it would feel like with braid tied on, plus you don't have to worry as much about ripping their lips.

Casting distance, put me side by side with someone throwing mono and if I'm casting 30-40' further than them on every cast I will catch more fish. I understand that it is not always relevant but the majority of the time the more water you can work the more fish you will catch.
