Default San Antonio Bay Wade Fisherman

SEADRIFT - Friends and family of a missing fisherman in San Antonio Bay fear they may never find his body due to alligators in the area. Joseph Ames, 62, of Bay City was last seen a week ago as he went out on the water.

Local fisherman Neal Crumley tells us Ames routinely called his wife every night at 9 when he came in from a day of fishing. She finally called authorities on Friday.

That evening, the Coast Guard found Ames boat anchored near the Aransas Wildlife Refuge, along with his cell phone.

"They don't know exactly what happened but they see some fairly large alligators in that area, but to say that an alligator got him for sure, can't say that," Crumely said.

Texas Parks and Wildlife found some body parts that will be sent off for DNA testing, but continue the search for Ames.

Never want to hear a thing like that. Sad situation for him and his family. Maybe at best it will be learned what happened so the family can find some peace.
