Me and a buddy hit the lake this morning in search of some hogs. Went to the first spot and nothing. I couldn't take it anymore so stopped at the landing and bought some live shrimp. Went to the washout and there was only about 6 boats there instead of the usual 30 boats so i decided to try it out. We picked up 16 specks there then decided to go back to wear we started to see if the fish had shown up yet. Caught 7 specks and 2 reds there all on topwater. My buddy had never caught a fish on topwater before and he was freaking out. After he caught his second trout on topwater, he turned to me and said, "Man this is the best fishing trip I have ever been on on my life!" hahaha We didnt catch any hogs but we caught a few 3s. Most of what we caught at the washout were all dinks but it was still fun.

Had boats all around me fishing live mullet and they weren't catching. I had a few croakers and the trout didn't want em. I would throw a croaker and not catch anything, take it off and put on a shrimp, and catch a trout.

hahaha yeh i dont think we caught a trout over 15" at the washout. Luckily every fish we caught on top was at least 2.5 lbs. We didnt put a fish in the boat until 8:30. I was getting nervous, had to pull out all the stops. Dinks are better than nothing.
