Default Houston River 7/29

Got out around 10 and stayed until 3. Caught 10 crappie, mostly small with a few around 10?. Caught in 9-12 fow with brush about 5 feet down. I was tight lining bobby garlands ( itty bitty swimmers) on 1/80 oz heads and #10 hooks) until they just touched the brush.

Caught 1 crappie in 20 fow with a bobby garland baby shad on a 1/32 oz head.

Picked up a few brim and tiny bass as well on the bobby garlands and the fly.

The water is pretty clear, you can see almost 3 feet down along some banks.

Saw lots of big bait balls on the side scan deeper than last time.

Friggin hot !

You did well.
I was out there, too. I fished 6:45-3:45pm. Caught 7 bass (all smaller), 6 goggleye, and a choupique.
I tried dropping a crappie jig in a few places with no results but did see some bait balls on the down view.

You had a yellow popping cork on the back of your glasses right ? I was in a blue tracker. I was passing you as you got hung up on the bank.

I stuck a cork on my fishing glasses because I watched my last $70 pair sink in slow motion in the Prien Lake ship channel. The cork is not pretty, but neither am I.
I lost quite a few hooks/ sinkers out there.
Fishing wood is good but not without its price.

I'll stop and introduce myself next time. I'll show you some of the places I stop and check. 90% of that river is unproductive for me most of the time.

I went down to where Houston River meets the West Fork, fished my way back down the southern bank of HR and found my best action of the day.
The whole place looks fishy but it?s kinda not.

Found a few in Houston River yesterday. I threw back two before I started keeping them.
