I know people hate CCA, but if they are building reefs in the lake I'm for it

Its kind of like using duck tape to cover up the bad area just so you dont see it...

It says it all right here

“We are excited to provide this new reef in an area of Big Lake that has suffered from tremendous loss of the natural reef habitat,” said Lake Charles CCA President Eric Mire. “People come from all over the world to fish this amazing estuary, and all of us who enjoy recreational angling here have been concerned about reef habitat loss in the southern lake. This project is an opportunity to give back to this lake that is such an important part of our culture and our local economy.”

How about let FIX the FREAKEN Problem CCA instead of you spending another half million on a reef ....

Lets fix the WHY.....

We dont need band aids... we need solutions

Agree 100%. Stop oyster dredging and put a levee to reduce tidal movement.

Makes too much sense .... Cant fix problems just patch them up and wait 10 more years for a new reef " because its a Feel Good ,High Five the CCA we care about Big Lake PR move"

We can add 50 reefs but if you dont stop erosion and slit your fighting a losing battle .

long point, wash out , nine mile, reef behind old jetties , reef in front of old jetties , old river reef.
all dead due to slit from dredging

Fixing the problem is bad business...No future business if there is nothing to fix...

Wouldn't a levee or a major project to stop coastal erosion be a Corp of Engineers, State of Louisiana responsibility. I don't think CCA is here to play super man for fisherman. If it's a serious issue, then our State and Federal Government should step in.

CCA is a lobbyist group. They can lead the fight to the US Corp or lobby state/federal officials to find the appropriation to help our erosion and environmental issues.

CCA IS NOT a lobbyist group.. We are a conservation organization . JUST LIKE DU and Delta Waterfowl...

Just FYI.. CCA is working behind the scene on a VERY significant chance on the Oyster front... Not Sure of it's status since our meeting last week... But Again; CCA is working on chances with WL&F's help.

If I remember correctly... The Reef will be placed very close or on the location of the old tank battery..

And Just FYI.. I'm the new prez of the Cajun Chapter... After Being VP for 4 yrs...I've been in that chapter board for over 12 yrs.

Our Chapter will have an education station at the Acadia Parish 4-H achievement Day in May... We will be speaking to groups of 40-50 kids at a time.. Total 300-400 kids.

Every one of them will receive a small tackle package or rodnreel... Children are the future of our sport.. WE will also offer them a FREE CCA New Tide membership and FREE entrance to our banquet...

So the Quotes on here about CCA is all about the money Is totally BS... Is DU or Delta Waterfowl all about the money??? No more than CCA is...

Oh By the way.. Anyone on this site, IS WELCOME to come help me, and CCA's outreach coordinator for the Achievement day presentation... We will be showing them, a few different saltwater fish.. As many as we can go catch a few day before the day.. How to tie different knots... Boating safety, habitat etc...

Any way you look at it, CCA is going to be around for a while.
(ANY group, no matter their aim or purpose, could charge $50 or so in LA for a chance at a boat or truck and get all the business they want, growing that group's "membership" and thus, influence, exponentially).

Have no dog in this fight but funny to see so many bash cca and cca is putting money into the lake this forum is all based on mainly and they still get bashed. Cracks me up.

Sounds like the government should be brought up instead of groups that give something back even if it is a small portion of their proceeds.

Not a lobbyist group? OK just an association that has quick links to email your Louisiana Congressman/Louisana Commissioner/etc. to "take action" in politics and agendas. But they have no lobbying efforts.

Low hanging fruit to put out press releases seem to be the ticket. Avoid the big projects that are affecting our area.

Wouldn't say it's a lobbyist group, but there's no doubt in my mind they have a lobbyists or lobbyist group on retainers/payroll etc. I know plenty of companies that use lobbyist and they aren't a lobbyist group.

When the wall is built in 2019 along the ship channel to close off the lower end of the lake , it will fix a ton of problems and stop the silt covering up wash out , nine mile , long point areas.

As far as oyster fishing goes yes they do help the local economy but nothing like fishing does , between rec and guide fishing it bring in millions to the local economy.

Oyster fisherman had basically worked them selves out of a job when they stop using tongs with zero reseeding. It was only a matter of time till it was over.

A blind man could see that coming because its simple math
