LCFD battles fire at Cormie's Grocery

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Fire Department works an overnight fire at Cormie's Grocery on Big Lake Road.

They got the call around 2 AM Friday morning. The building was fully engulfed by flames. It is believed the fuel pumps at the gas station were off. Smoke could be seen from I-210 and residents report smelling smoke as far away as Sulphur.
No word on how the fire started. We'll continue to follow the story here on kplctv.com and on 7 News.

Best wishes to chris and his family. I think his employees are going to suffer the most. There going to be out of work for at least a few months.

Cormie's is also a big part of my big lake and duck hunting Experience also. I shop there at least 3 times a week. They also have the best chickin salad sandwiches. They make too much money not to rebuild, cause there parking lot is always full
