The guy on common is closed down. I really don't want to pull my boat all the way to laffy then go pick it up.... Guess I'll just eat this high estimate from ohmstead.

Lyle with a plus may not be cheaper but that guy does an awesome job. I wouldn't like to haul to Laffy either but if your LC man does not do a great job you'll be pissed. You may be able to even text him some close up pics of your problem and ask him if he can give u a rough estimate just with pics

I'm guessing fiberglass repairs are like tattoos, you don't want the discounted ones...

I used to recommend A+ fiberglass but the last time I brought my boat there will be the last. I think the problem is Lyle is spending too much time away from the business. I actually refused to pick up my boat twice. Now, they did work with me and tried to fix the job but it still doesn't look like a professional job.

Thanks for the review. I wasn't going to bring it that far anyway. Time is money for me.

Default Fiberglass repair

It's a drive from Lake Charles, but the best work I seen lately was done by D&T in Livingston.

I don't know if this is typical for Lyle, but I had him take a look at my boat to give me a price on fabricating a step to make it easier to step up to the bow of my boat. His "rough estimate" was extremely high as far as I was concerned, but I asked him to take measurements and call me with a firm price. I never heard from him again and since the rough estimate was so high, I decided to just "forgettaboutit".

I felt the same way lone shark.

If everyone brought there boat to him for an estimate. He would be there but id say its much easier to go out and give an estimate than for someone to hook up and bring it to him for an estimate.

for those that never been there. Ill paint a picture for you. He isn't there most of the time but he is out giving estimates and picking up boats to bring to the shop to get the work done.

He has business from new Orleans to Abbeville to the boat place in jennings. now gaining some business out of lake charles.

Keep in mind its a small shop It's only 3 men working there and 1 is the owner. and I think he is the only fiber glass shop in the lafayette area which is a central location for the surrounding area with 27+ years experience

How I know this, I stay right down the street from the shop and when my boat was there, I stopped by just about everyday just to chat with them and see the progress on my sled.

Just giving everyone a picture of the situation.
