Rumor has it that DaPointisDaBomb has been limiting on gaff tops and drum in the pass.
Seriously, a few have been catching on the outside reefs when weather and water conditions are right. Good luck!

Worst year I've had in vermillion bay. I hope things change after a few fronts!

It's all about the salinity. That's what makes or breaks the fishing. It's at an all time low for this time of year. The fronts won't help much of the water is still fresh.

Went Saturday with plans for skirting the East side of Marsh Island. Met with 15 mph winds out of the east so "Plan B" went into effect, went into the island at bird island bayou. everywhere we went there were 6" gafftops.

Wife mentioned that it didnt smell like fish in the island. soon as we got into the open heading back to the point we smelled fish. water was too rough to try so we headed in.

It's a shame to have a big body of water like V BAY and not a fish in sight!

We need a low pressure to push in a 3' above normal tide for a couple days to get salinity up, just outside marsh island the water is salty. I've never seen the river this low for this long and water staying fresh. only good thing that came from this is the marsh above intercostal has been holding a few sac a lait for first time since rita in numbers...

seems the trout are still offshore, I don't think it'll be too long before they move in though. There's some salt slowly creeping into the bay.

Well I'm going Saturday. The salinity has come up a good bit. Think I'll start outside and see what happens.
