Default BL Big Girl

Went out Saturday morning, not expecting much. Water was dirty but I had to try. Went to a spot that I've caught a few fish at in the last 4 - 6 weeks. Started my wade throwing a white skitter walk. Had a giant blow up in the first few casts. Then one more small strike and then nothing. That was encouraging because I at least knew there were some kind of fish there. I thought it was trout but was not positive. Switched baits to a little spec. colored mirrodine. A few minutes later, Whamo, one nails it. No doubt, this was a good fish and once I saw silver, I knew this could be what I've been waiting for. Finally landed it and to my surprise it went just over 8 on the boga. First one that big, hopefully not the last, so it's going on the wall. Got a few pics taken and worked my way back to the spot. Just a few casts later, another fish nails it. Couldn't believe it, another nice trout. This one went 6.5 lbs. Took a quick pic and released it. That's the trout in the hanging pic. Stayed for two more hours and not another trout. A few reds finally moved in and was able to get three of those. Awesome morning. Can't wait to get out there and chase them again.

Thanks guys. I'm digging this wading thing. Reminds me of bowhunting. Kind of stealthy.

Congrats. You are right. Big trout fishing is a lot like trophy whitetail hunting. That's what I explain to ppl when they ask why I like going fishing to only catch 2-3 fish.

Nice one! I take it you were wading solo? It feels like a whole new game like that.

Nice speck. I hear the same thing about catching a few nice trout wading. I have a friend I try to get him to wade with us and he says he would rather catch 15 small specks instead of catching 5 nice specks.

Yep, wading solo. Seems like the thing to do from late winter through spring. One way to fight high winds, for sure.
