26", but with an extended full choke, it sticks out to close to 28".
I just don't like a 28" barrel so I went with 26. |

No noticable difference in pattern 22 to 28 inches. Ear plugs do a better job for protection. Longer barrels are safer.

Shorter is easier to swing, that's it

28" barrel supposedly helps with a smooth swing too...

The cops are the experts on the current criminal trends. If they have determined that a “high capacity” semiautomatic pistol and a .223 semiautomatic rifle with 30-round magazines are the best firearms for them to use to protect people like me and my family, they are obviously the best things for us to use to protect ourselves and our families . |

So its basically all dependant on personal preferance and how much room you have to swing the gun to shoot between trees and brush

28in. WHY Cuz thats what they had it in! I had a home protection model mossberg a few years ago, I figured if I ever needed a gun in the house between my pistol and my hunting shotgun If I can't do the job with that then another shotgun wouldn't help either so I sold it.

I have a 20ga 870 express youth model with a 21" barrel an I love it. I have a BPS with a 28" barrel and I love it. I know that each gun is different and each person is different. Both guns have a pattern out of this world, with the right shells. All I can tell you is try and try again, if nothing else it'll be fun.

To me the choke is way more important than 26 or 28 or namebrand shells...get the what ever you feel comfortable with and spend you some money on a good choke, I shoot PatternMaster..

I have a auto with 24" barrel for a turkey gun, plus several other autos with 26" & 28" barrels, shooting trap, skeet, doves or ducks you'll never
see a difference in that 24" Barrel compared to the 26" & 28" with the right chokes. 24" swings alot better. |

Yes. Before they made interchangeable choke tubes, barrel length made a difference in shot distance but not anymore. Personally I only shoot 28" barrels. But alot of my buddies rather 26. With my patternmaster, I got about 30" of barrel. 28 just feels better to me.

Actually, that's wrong. Most pro trap/skeet shooter shoot 30" 0r 32" barrels.
26" may be beneficial in the woods. I like 28" |
