Default H.B. 156 Round 2 in Senate NR Committe

This bill was voted out of the House 94-1 and will now be heard in the Senate Natural Resources Committee next Thursday morning. It's the same as the House NR committee, if it gets killed there, it's over.

I would urge the "Guide Family" & Calcasieu Recreational anglers to plan accordingly and attend this meeting if possible. Cameron will be sending the white boot brigade and tears will be falling.
Form letters and phone calls will not help if the bill gets killed Thursday and nor will internet dribble.

Parking is located behind the capitol on the levee (westside).

Bump. Recs seem to get slaughtered with the red snapper thing because they don't show up when it's time.

Yes it will be continued this Thursday. There was a lot of opposition that showed up. Oyster guys came out in full force and the committee wants to hear more. So if you can go testify on Thursday it is desperately needed. At the very least if the word can get out to at least email all of the committee members showing support for the bill. It all helps. Because if it doesn't go to the floor on Friday it will be dead which is exactly what oyster guys want.

Surely the oyster fishermen didn't out number the guides on Big Lake ? And I play the political game quite often. You have to call these politicians or meet face to face.

Those little chain emails are worthless.

Well, then, that's that. If the guides and sports didn't show up last time, no reason to believe they will this time.

Yep, three of us and 20 of them including their paid for economic development/port director. My second trip east and it's getting hard to put paying work on hold to keep fighting a battle for those who are stakeholders that continuously ***** and moan about the organization that's carrying the water for them. I guess CCA needs to bus everyone with a stake in this battle to Baton Rouge and pay them for their time also. And NO, I don't need a pat on the back from anyone, I know I have delivered on my end.

I guess that's why none of the guides responded, because they were not there. It's easy to ***** and complain on the internet but very few actually step up when the rubber meets the road. Their oyster reef complaint is useless unless they pack the house showing opposition.

The commercial fishing industry will have their people there.

Thats the problem Raymond no guides are coming for the CCA or support of the CCA or asked by the CCA.

If this is the case and there are just a few there, the bill will not get out of committee. Been there done that.

I had a niece that worked for a couple of different senators who were on committees. She read all the incoming e mails and took calls and gave him an estimate of how many for and against on each issue. If she bothered keeping track???

Committee has nothing to support allowing oyster dredging to continue !

Not 1 small ounce of evidence supports dredging to keep moving foward !

If they are that stupid to over look the abundance of science and evidence than you can fill Baton Rouge up with Anti dredging people and it will not matter !

That's a fact !

Even local oyster fisherman have said it's in bad shape

What more can one do ?
We have data
We have evidence
We have numbers
We have proof
We have assistsments

It's kind of like the OJ murder trial
If you choose to close your eyes to all above
Then nothing anyone can do will make a diffence

You're already beat with your attitude little man.
I'm sure with your intellect, you're driving the short bus with all those "government assistants"riding in the back.

Lake Charles Rep. Stephen Dwight has introduced House Bill 156, which would allow hand tonging only for oyster harvest in Calcasieu and Sabine Lakes. It will be heard this Thursday, June 1 at approximately 9:30am in the Senate Natural Resources Committee at the State Capitol. The legislation would remove scrapers (dredges) as allowable harvest gear in both lakes. We need as many as possible to attend the meeting Thursday in Baton Rouge to show support for this important legislation. The meeting information is below.

Please email each senator to show your support for the bill.

chabertn@legis.la.gov-chairman Norby Chabert

lamberte@legis.la.gov-senator Eddie Lambert

allainb@legis.la.gov-senator Brett Allien

rgatti@legis.la.gov-senator Ryan Gatti

jluneau@legis.la.gov-senatorJay Luneau

tarverg@legis.la.gov-senator Greg Tarver

rward@legis.la.gov-senator Rick Ward

Please take time to email each just copy and paste your response to each to make sure they all hear it. They need to hear our support for this bill even if we can't make it in person.

Jeremy, myself and Blue have been there. I guarantee you, if there is not a crowd there supporting this Thurs, it will NOT get out of committee.

We are going
We have a crew
About 20 or more guides coming in our group
I'm sure more will be going
But I know 1st hand the committee has been flooded with over 8k emails in support of bill and counting
This was last week

This committee knows at 9:30am on a Thurs 99% of people can not miss work or make meeting

They have 50 guides tomorrow who would love to come but are booked and cant make it
I was able to move my guys to afternoon but most can't move people

I hope you are right. But look at it this way, the oyster guys made sure they can be there because it's their livelihood.
