I was wondering if any of you guys do repairs on shotguns...or can someone point me in the direction of someone that does...Anywhere between Lafayette and Lake Charles...I have an old Mossberg model 500 that sometimes throws out the full shell with the empty...I want to to get it fixed because its my favorite dove gun.

there is a mechanic smack dab inbetween lafayette and lake charles. About 3 houses down from me. its inbetween Gueydan and Lake arther. The owner's name is Mike Mouton, and he lives on Alexis Road in Gueydan La. 70542. He will probably fix it right there while you wait if its not major.. Good prices to.

I brought a gun to get refinished and he does an awesome job.. Let me know if you need more info...

There are 2 little arms on each side of the place where you put the shells in. They are curved inward a little bit. While a full shell is in the magazine, you can see what im talking about because its the little piece that actually holds the shell in the mag. If you were to push on that little arm that holds the shell, it would drop the shell. That little are tends to wear out after alot of usage. Take your gun apart and pull that arm out and BARELY bend it out to where it makes more contact with the shell in your mag.

Whats happening, is because that arm is wore out, the recoil of your gun jars it and drops your shell..

I have the same gun and have had that same trouble. I found one of the boxes of shells I had, the brass would expand and caused the new load to eject and the spent shell to stay in the barrel.
