Default Reciever Pin corrosion-NEED TO CHECK

Just received this picture of a corroded locking pin. Had been in truck for about 8 years. They thought it was stainless steel.

yikes... harbor freight? I find most of their stuff is garbage.

My pin is perfectly fine, probably 15-20 years old. Fish every weekend too. Not from harbor freight.

I actually just took my pin and all out. masked off the lock itself and then sprayed it all with plasti-dip. I hated the way that the rust looked. Not sure how well it will hold up but just thought I would mention it.

Stainless does not mean rust proof. Less and proof are different things.

I have one that looks identical, but only smaller on the tongue of one of my trailers. If it is the same manufacturer it is chrome plated, not stainless, as most are.
