You can usually get a better deal on a shorter afternoon trip, say 3 or 4 to dark, esp. if you give the guide a chance to put some money in his pocket in the middle of the week rather than during his prime time.

you will find its about a $200 a head average and minimum fee is based on 3 people

so figure $600 a trip and if you get 3 people to split it its pretty reasonable, figure an average cost to go in your own boat its going to cost you at least $100 in gas bait drinks food and whatnot.

its about the same average price all over unless you find some bigshot charging more then average just because he has a well known name or being pimped on TV

East side of lake 600 west side of lake 550 unless u go w hrg... The one man shows put more pride in there work than the corporate outfits... Bigger services that have multiple boats pay there guides less than 350 a day and that guy usually won't go the extra mile or stay late... Some are good some r bad...my top 5 recommendations other than myself would be Scott Hanchey, lee Daughdril,Waltrip, brad Boudreaux and josh Bryd

Call a possible guide and tell him what you want. I always want to learn as much as I can, but some guides don't like to teach much, they just want you to fill the box and be happy.

I learned more about big lake in one trip with W than in the first 40 years of my life, and I grew up in Lake Charles.

Bobby Lynn Gros out of Bobby Lynn's Marina in Golden Meadow (or close) is also a great teaching guide if you ever want a trip out of that part of the state. Great with children too.

I'd recommend both guides on this site. Waltrip and Adams straight catch fish. Josh Johnson does too. I'd only go thru him if you fish with him tho. Can't go wrong with Adams or waltrip.
