Default FYI ... Grand Bayou weir work.

Here is entrance to Grand bayou Thursday morning. The 2 barges has the bayou completely blocked off.

I just called the recording [Friday very late night] and it said the weir was open???

This barge looked to be fairly full of material.

The recording had been saying "closed for maintenance, should re open by sunset Friday" so I guess they finished on schedule.

The usual maze of crab pots was there and out in front of Lamberts.

Is that the barge and material that they are using to make the new reef? Been seeing them pushing these barges across the lake.

When I took the pic, they were pulling up the "brush" behind the existing rocks. I guess they were going to widen where the rock are placed.

At the weir, the barge had rocks. For the reef, the concrete looked to be a square shape. I post a pic in another post.

The blocks are to anchor down hazard line buoys on the inside of grand bayou.
The work on all three of the weirs is complete. With exception of a couple small buoys to go on the hazard line (vendor screwed up my order).

Cca reef is going in where dls has their crane set up in the middle of the lake.
They are putting down concrete piers to spread out the psi. Then the rock is going in top. I think we are putting the rock on for them.

Going garfishing with my cousin this weekend down at the weirs. Y'all think this work will mess up the gar bite?

A couple years ago, there were a couple guys "Gar" fishing inside the GB weir. I talked to them when they left and they said they had caught 10-12 that afternoon.

Them Gar will take my crab bait. I had to move to a different spot one time to get away from them. I have had them break my line. Catch as many as you can.

This gar would not fit in my net and it took a while to get my top water bait back.
