a good friend of mine was the one who got a original patent on the ulta jack. If you are looking to add a jack plate to your boat to make it run in VERY low water than I would recommend one. I may be bias ,but I have seen them added to boats and it makes a dramatic difference. Boat builders have kinda stole his idea behind the ultra jack by building boats with a tunnel and adding that "skag" to the tunnel. He stills makes a few ultra jacks on special orders but I think he mainly builds regular jack plates for all the local boat dealers. If you are interested let me know and I can get you in touch with him.

Yep they work but if i remember right the setup was about $1,000 (that was 14 yrs ago) We ran one on a 15/48 with 25merc and it was pretty impressive, had a lot of good times in that boat. |

Guys I ran one of these back in the day (92ish) for several years, duck hunting tidal marsh over here. The skeg worked great in heavy vegetation, but when we got into hard sand bottom it worked better without the skeg. I had 2 over a few years. One was a 1542 w/ 40 tiller, the other was a 1648 w/ 40 tiller. Back then we were running a progressive pitch prop with a LOT of cup. If it was a mud bottom it would run through spit. Mine were set up where the prop shaft was even or slightly above the bottom of the boat. An awesome performing, well made product.
