Default Southwest Pass 6/29

Left the cypremort point landing @10:00 AM trying to catch the evening tide. Was greeted with 20 mph west winds out of the Quintana and 2-3 ft seas. Roughed the ride out to the pass to get out of the wind. water was milk chocolate until 200 yards past dry reef, turned pretty and salty instantly in a rip tide until you exited the pass on the south end. Fished one reef in the middle of the pass and caught 5 nice reds and 1 drum in the first 30 mins. Left there and headed out in between pavys reef and diamond reef to catch some shrimp for supper. The gulf was choppy and milky but the shrimp were there, caught 12 lbs of nice whites in a 45 min pull w/ a 16ft net. There was one big shrimp boat pulling in that area. Last stop for the day was the boxcar and the water was pretty and salty there (10-15lb gafftop). The water is pretty inside the pass and the reds are there. Stay in the reefs because you pretty much cant get to the grass beds to the west anymore with the water silting up, very shallow. All in all a good day but we took a beating there and back. Back at the landing at 3:00 PM.
