Trigger fish are good eating!
I didnt even know there was a season. Nice trip! If you were able to run out 23 miles in 3' seas you have a solid boat there buddy! You going to try to make a trip with us out of Grand Isle in June? |

Good post. I think I'd go down the night before and stay in a hotel. That 430AM crap to start fishing a 8 stinks. You should contact Capt Hoop and have him do a trip with you out of Venice. One trip with him will teach you lots and save you a lot of time picking up your skill level.

Its not bad making a day trip.
Last year we would leave Lafayette at 2:30 a.m. and be on the water at 6:00. Fish until 1-2 then be back home by 6:00. Clean and save the boat the next morning. its not ideal but its what a weekend warrior has to do sometimes. |

Try some diamnond jigs and or vertical jigs around the rigs. Work them fast. You will more likely find the AJ's in 150+ ft of water.

fouchon is a great place to run out of, i would recommend also trying out of dularge, had a buddy fish saturday limit on AJs and snapper (State waters) caught a few amoco jacks.. also he said they flew by a few great looking rips that could have been trolled or even sight fished for some Ling... anyways hope the new boat is working out for you and good luck! Keep the reports coming!
