A little off topic, but what are some good websites to search for a used yak? I'm interested in getting one myself. Don't know what I'm looking for or my price range yet.

I know how much u like Austin tx now and they have a big yak shop there that sells new and used. A lot of takers from hawaii would order used yaks from there. Think its austinkayaks.com but I could be wrong. Ill see if I can find it for ya

If your gonna go to Texas there are a couple clubs out that way also. I can't think of the names off the top of my head.

I have bought some off craigslist, use searchtempest.com for easier searches. Also texaskayakfisherman is a very active site. Plus the others already posted.

As many have said, I wouldnt go with anything under 12'... there are a lot of reasons for this... I was like you and my first yak was 10'... now my yak is 13.5'... I cant tell you how great it is on so many levels, now I wish I would have listened from the beginning... demo if you can... there are several kayaks that have high and low seats, which are very comfortable... jackson, wilderness systems, native to name a few...
