Default Texas Second Split Opener

Hot, foggy and calm conditions on opening morning, but it didn't matter. Eight hunters killed 48 birds on Saturday and 7 hunters killed 30 birds on Sunday. Lots of pintail, grey's, teal and a few mallards. Made a quick hunt with a friend on Wednesday and killed 12.

A few of us made a goose hunt Saturday afternoon killing 5 specks. If Sandhill Cranes would have been in season we could have smashed them. I bet they all leave before it opens on the 22nd. It was hard to get into our laydown blinds after we ran accross a 4.5 foot rattle snake close to where we set up.

Good luck to everyone in this weekend. There should be some birds down after this past front and 2 weeks of resting.

Great hunt and pics...just put some moth balls around and that should keep the snakes out or the old cowboy rope trick. I am with you though, there is not enough tricks out there for me to feel safe after seeing that thing.

Not many deer Nick, too many acorns. All of trees are acorn trees so they are not having to move much. If we start seeing more deer I will keep a tag for you.
