Mixed Spread
My question is how critical is separating to y'all? I hunted with a fella that added dekes to our spread for the morning and he was insistent on mixing the raggedy snow dekes with our fully flocked specks - I saved the argument, and let it roll. We killed snows, eagle heads and blues, but got only one speck - they just would not decoy, basically taking a look over and flaring and that's what I blamed it on... Am I wrong? He disagreed that they were that smart or any different than the snows/blues. |

One of the best things to go by when goose hunting is ride around and see how the geese are sitting in the area fields. Take a mental note and place your decoys the next morning to mimic that. If you watch a body of snows/blues and you see specks coming to them they always light keeping their distance.
