I think shooting the bear in the tree would have been justified. That could have gotten real bad fast.

I think there were two bears, he was pointing at one on the ground by the tree and the one that was in the bait chased it up the tree, I imagine that was an adrenalin rush

I think you may be right. You can see the one in the bait looking at something then he takes off after it.
