Default Freshwater City Boat Landing

I've never been to Freshwater City so forgive my ignorance. Where is the nearest boat landing? Looking at google maps, it looks like there is a small marina off of marina rd.(pvt.) off of Hwy 82? Is there a boat launch there or do I need to drive all the way to freshwater city?

There is a public launch just past the locks at the end of the FWC road. However, if you have a large boat, consider the slip has silted in over the years and is not in the best of shape. It is right next to the old ice house which was destroyed by hurricanes.

How big is your boat and where do you plan on fishing in vbay?. They is a launch in erath dons landing(goes to intercoastal waterway then to borth centeral vbay). Delcambre(intercostal waterway to north east of vbay) and in intercoastal city(west side of vbay and FWC which is the shortest run to the gulf.

I have a 22ft bay boat and would like to fish the marsh side of the locks....headed back towards Intracoastal City.

I'm currently launching at Intracoastal City and running all the way to the locks. I was curious if there is a closer launch to the locks.

Acadiana marina is right there behind the locks. It is a private marina. You have to be a member or something to launch there

Yes, you can fish Freshwater Bayou itself and the Humble canal up to the pontoon bridge area. As far as the public launch at FWC, it is shallow but you will be fine in a 22ft boat except at extremely low tides after a strong North wind....and even then you may have enough water. I launched our 29ft SeaVee (drafted at least 24") during spring/summers at low tide without issue but I had to keep in the center of the canal and not go more inland than the launch (the canal deadends about 75 yds past the launch anyway). I have had the cooling water intakes on the 29 footer clog with mud a couple of time at very low tides but was able to load her up on the trailer anyway. Keep in mind that you will be launching on the Gulf side of the locks.

Was down that way Friday. Road was paved but not yet black topped. If you are coming down west of abbeville you can turn in Nunez and cut through cow island. This puts you out at 5oaks south of the bridge.
