best thing is to bring it to a biologist. VERY rare to kill a north american black duck in Louisiana. theres always some joker on the sportsman ever year that claims to shoot one just to be ruled a idiot because its a mottle. i have never seen one nor could tell the difference. all i know are that they are bigger then mottle ducks and its like a huge green head. if you have questions bring it to a biologist, they will know.

I'm sure this elusive mottled I mean black duck came from the "Lacassine flyway".

Just looked at it again! Still a black mallard. Good friends dad is a wildlife biologist. Said same thing. Crazy isn't it. That it's so rare and I killed one? Who'd a thunk it?!?!?
