They have a hearing Monday
And this will say if any laws were broken
So if Federal laws were broken by the FFA

Good day to buy its stock because it will drop at open

It's really that simple.

Go read 14 CRF 250. That's the only rules that apply in this situation. Any policy by United contradicting this is in violations of the law and therefore not valid.

Now I have not really cared to look further into the situation than what I have seen on the news. I've been asked to volunteer my seat before and did. I was fairly compensated for my inconvenience and made it to my destination 30min later.

Now somewhere online I saw a blog from a pilots wife, it said something about a federal aviation law that permitted this if the crew was on board the flight to Amman a flight from the destination of this flight. Something about keeping the flow of air travel if the crew on the flight they were going to was unavailable. She went on to say if they were just going home then employees have last priority and often have to wait for the next available which pushes their time home way back.
Have y'all seen this stipulation in any research?

Help me understand why airlines overbook flights. Thank God sporting events have better technology than airlines. Imagine sitting down at say an Lsu game and being told I'm sorry you paid $75 for this seat we also sold it to someone else so get up or we will beat the hell out of you.
From what I can tell, the "bump" rules allow that stupidity at least until a person has boarded. The "right" to remove a passenger from his seat so employees can fly does not seem to be supported in the contract of carriage.

I received my email from CEO Oscar Munoz this am. He apologized for their actions and promised that they will behave better from now on. All is forgotten; I'll book that flight now. Does anyone know how to get lipstick off of my arse.

Sorry, can't agree with you. The passenger refused to comply with law enforcement, (whether LE was right or wrong can later be determined), and then resisted physically. The only way they could control the situation was to forcibly pull him off the plane, which in and of itself, was dangerous to his fellow passengers by his flailing around, etc.

Now, was United blameless?, Hell No!, this situation should never have escalated to that level, but that could have been addressed civilly after the fact (as it apparently was), but Dao caused it to escalate to a criminal action.

Just my $0.02 worth.
