I can comment on this out of personal experience! This past turkey season at Clear Creek WMA I had 3 gobblers going crazy 45 minutes after sunrise. They apparently got off their roost an oak bottom 3/4 of a mile away and gobbled not to far from me. They began gobbling while backtracking to the roost area and I pursued attempting to flank. They locked up about 60 yards on the direct opposite side of that oak bottom and wouldn't move. I walked 100 yards down the oak bottom to cross and attempt to slip on them. Once set up and I began clucking and they'd gobble up to 30 yards and then 50 yards back and forth in some thick sh**. I couldn't get a shot and all of a sudden BOOM! There was an old man maybe 40 yards away that was originally hunting the roost. Just saying. It is possible. lol

If you cannot see the bird clearly enough to identify it as a gobbler (and, in many areas, a mature gobbler) you have no business being in the woods with a loaded gun. There is absolutely no excuse for accidentally shooting someone.
Unless, of course, the dude was doin' figure 8's around his blind. |

This past season in Indiana was a bad one as far as hunters shooting other hunters. There were two on the opening day of the season and at least two others during the season.
