Fishing is a pain in my ..............
Do any of you experience back pain when fishing? Seems over this last year my lower back will start to hurt after about 4 hrs of fishing. I don't normally have back pain. When this occurs Ill normally just go sit down for a spell or lay flat on the deck until my pain goes away. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

The constant Pounding and bad posture standing r sitting at the leaning post while on the water can be a take a toll ruff on your lower back.
I would start doing some lower back workouts. And try to correct your posture when standing at the lean post and while fishing as well. Back hypers |

One thing you could do is bend/relax you knees a little that way when it's ruff your knee obsorbs the shock besides your lower back.

Thanks for all the advice guys, it only hurts when I have been up on the bow fishing non stop. I too was thinking get some better shoes, sandals. I wear those crock flip flops because they are comfy, but maybe not enough support. I love fishing barefoot, but I know that's a killer

Also get you one of those mats to put down when driving the boat. It will help absorb a lot of the impact.
They are expensive but worth every penny. |

good shoes with arch support is the key to avoid back pain, we arent young anymore so flip flops and bare feet are fine around the house but on the boat, not so good.
those flexible back support braces (just elastic bands really) they do help a lot and they tend to give you better posture as well. something like this: http://www.walmart.com/c/kp/back-support-belts just avoid the fancy low profile stuff or wonder magnets and just get a good quality one to support your back. I have used the cheaper ones and they work ok but you do get what you pay for and I use this one and its well worth the extra money http://www.walmart.com/ip/MAXAR-Work...pport/20746309 I use them when fishing or on the lawn mower, anytime im getting vibrated or bounced around or working in the yard doing a lot of bending and lifting. it is a little bother in the heat of summer but your back will thank you. another very overlooked item is a soft shock absorbing comfortable seat to absorb bouncing if you sit to drive or sit at the trolling motor all day. a good seat goes a long way to literally not being a pain in the back side Last edited by keakar; 05-07-2015 at 11:47 AM. |

good shoes or just shoes period really do help. My ankles and knees would hurt after a trip so I started wearing just some regular sandalls and have noticed a difference. Now I have gay tan lines on my feet though.... |
