Default Scope

I need help. What model scope would you put on a .308? Shots could range from 10 yards to 350 yards.

For the ranges you stated, I would recommend a 3x9 or 4x12 variable scope. I have hunted 30+ yrs with a redfield 3x9. I usually keep it on 5 or 6X. Tasco makes an excellent scope for the money. FOV is field of view.

Depends on what u wanna spend. There is your lower line like the tasco and bushnell $100-$300 Then middle of the road like leupold and nikon $300-800 Then high dollar ones like swarovski and zeiss $900-1500

Nikon makes some very good.......mid priced scopes........some under $ 200.

I bought a Pro Staff 3 x 9 x 50 for ~ $ 175 last year and really like it.

I have a Nikon Monarch also...very good scope..........More important, make sure you get GOOD rings & bases! Not a scope out there worth a crap without a good foundation!

Ditto on retriever. Spend good money on rings and base. Leupold is good for that

I put one on my muzzleloader last year. Good little scope. And like they said rings and bases are very important. Go with Leupold rings $50 bases $50

Thanks for the feed back guys. I'm looking at spending between 1000 and 1500. I'm looking hard at the Zeiss Conquest in a 4.5-14X50. Anyone have one of these?

If you gonna spend that much, you should look around and see if you can find a NightForce in your price range. I know they have a few models around that price. They supposed to be top of the line scopes, the scope to have.

i can make you a deal on a complete rifle in that price range if you are interested. Rem 300 Win Mag Sendero with kevlar composite stock, bipod, and most importantly a 3-12X56MM Zeiss Diavari with #66 illuminated reticle. entire gun is immaculate...

I've got one(3x9x50)on my wife's 308 and it's a great scope for the $$$, they have outstanding lens quality. You won't find a much clearer scope out there. A buddy of mine also has the 6-20x50 and he loves it. If you go to http://swfa.com/Riflescopes-C1443.aspx you can learn a hell of alot about scopes from their forum.

I agree, check out Night Force's line. They may seem a little over kill but you get what you pay for. If you do decide to get one I recommend you order it from "Gary's Gun Shop" in South Dakota, he's got the best prices, free shipping, and there's no sales tax in SD which will save you some cash on a scope in that price range. His # is on NF's website, he doesn't have his own site yet.
However, if you didn't buy a gun yet I recommend you buy that Sendero w/ the Diavari from mikedatiger before I offer do, $1,500 for that combo is a give away.

Ok, here are a few pics of the sendero. Gun is in mint condition and has not been fired in quite some time. Hate to see er go, but if interested make an offer.

and yes, before anyone asks, the pink backpack in one of the pics is W's - he left it at the camp in Cocodrie..
