Default 5-27-18 short am trip

the 1st one to launch at heberts this am and was way too early lol sittin on reef before daylight. fished that reef til 7 without a trout and made move to cut. caught a lot of small trout in there. so made move for reef by commissary. made a long drift without a bite and wat few boats are out are all bouncing around from reef to reef so I figure they not having much luck either. went back to cut and started catching trout again. all 10" to 12" fish and was just about to leave and actually pulled up anchor pole drifted out some when I hooked a solid fish like I been wanting. 20" or so. catch 5-6 of them and ran out of shrimp earlier and these were on finger mullet but ran out of them too. almost looked for more bait and would of thrown some plastic but two boats came in right by me and they couldn't buy a bite with plastic. back home for 1130am and have 7-8 nice trout to clean later. nice calm morning but wind went to none at all and it was getin hot.

Caught the very end of incoming tide to a slack tide and when I got the good ones tide just started going out. O yea won't be leaving truck in boat launch anytime soon. Even when I launch on river at private launch I may not leave it in there anymore either. Lol

why is it so tough? the trout bite seemed better 2 weeks ago. There seems to be little in the way of mullet and shrimp in the bays. usually its on fire going into June.

That morning was all about tide. Several guides and others caught trout that day. For me it was tide and I only fished 3 hours. Still caught 25 fish or more. 15 trout or more. i felt I could of stayed out and grinded a solid limit but saltwater fishing seems to get hotter every year. I was glad to be back before noon. Get back in bay boat when I can put top up and take a break I may stay later.
