Default Toledo Bend Duck Hunting

Does anyone Duck hunt at Toledo Bend? Or ever has?

Might go this weekend just to do something different and check on the camp.

I hunt with a guy that lives up there. He said there is a bunch of ducks, but you just have to get away from the crowds. He said they'll scout and find some birds. Go the next morning and someone else is already set up in the spot.

Hell yeah. He said they found some ducks, got out there at 2 am and somebody was already set up. That's got to suck.

Damn 2am and someone already set up. Those guys were dedicated. I have never hunted Toledo Bend before. Like Raymond said, its probably gonna be covered with open water duck.(jacks, red, canvasbacks) I would love to get a canvasback drake or redhead drake for the wall. (never killed either before) Let us know how u do. I have hunted the Wax quite a few times and u gotta get there very early also to claim a spot. I guess cause we were always early, but never had a problem with someone trying to get too close.

Best hunting on the bend is far north out of Mansfield, lake is shallow up there. The hunting has steadily declined on the lake in the last ten years as told to me by one of my clients that lives on the lake. I would figure it'd be great with the low water situation but sadly not the case.
R-T-GO, go shoplift some bolts from Cody Vidrine and tell him Raymond said hello.

I hunted it ten years ago. The hunting was good then and we would go out of Jolly Rodgers marina and pop them good. But with the lake at 163 landings around there are not useable.

I am sure it is like most public hunting places....a lot of hunters. Hell even places you lease a blind there is another one not far away.
