Default Freshwater locks 18-19 may

Went out at around 2 pm. Trawled for bait for an hour. Water muddy around shore and cought 6 crabs 3 squid and 6-7 shrimp and 10 shad. I would say crabs are moveing in.
Crused out to first row of rigs to wet line. At first gas tower water went green. Always cool to see that line between brackish and salt. Not much activity on line so set anchor at first big rig. Cought a gaff head right off the bat on the fresh squid........sticky bugger he held on for dear life. And continued catching flat heads 6 on Same squid .moved to next bigger platform.

Set anchor again for slow drift between sections. Flatheads again till around 5:30 and cursed back to area were shrimping is closed to wet for reds.

Set anchor and forgot chain and wound up in mud.crapola was tic. Fixed up chain and put out lights for night fishing. Tight on a 30 lb drum. Beautiful fish head wite body black black. Had not seen one that dark in a while.

Sun set and pole tip hit water. Long screem on drag. A red. Liked crab alot I guess. An he made it to the boat 3 times on 90 foot runs. Took a while to get him in boat. I was in bad shape by then.

Took a nap for a while After meds and last crew boat went by. At midnight I woke up again.

Took ten min with crab to hook up again.more of the best screening drag .took a long time to git him in boat with gaff. The gulf was takeing it's toll on me big time so I bleed the fish and headed in.got to dock at 2:00 am.

Loaded up and turned the truck for Lafayette.

First fish was 22lb second on ice still . Clean in am.
Will post pics if I can still move in afternoon.

All and all good trip for the lil rat. No shrimp but I know I could have hit um after dark but not able to do so. Saw um jumping all the way in.

Any one else hit locks this weekend ? I saw a boat in the mud on way out. And what's up or what happend with wreck in middle of canal? Is it a shrimp boat? Marked with a wr booie.i also saw a pig just down from we're I saw the boat parked on side. Baken on a fish trip what a cool concept.........meat big meat.
