Default BL 1/8

Made a quick run today in hopes of topping off the freezer.

Hit Hebert's at noon just as it was starting to warm up a bit and the wind was dying down. One other trailer in the parking lot.

Water was pretty calm and the cold wasn't too bad. Ran straight to Grand Bayou to try our luck.

With the place to ourselves, we found ourselves biteless after about an hour and a half. One other boat passed through for a bit and left fishless.

We headed south to lamberts to see if it was any better. Picked up one nice red and one barely legal. Oh, and we gave a pelican a lift on the way there.

Since we were on a tour, we stopped at all the weirs on the east bank and fished a bit. Ended the day with just the two.

Both fish were caught on gulp new penny shrimp. The water seemed to look a bit better the further north we went.

I've had worse days.

Hitching a ride....

Those Brown Pelicans can be a bit of a nuisance, but I enjoy their company. Some are very bold, probably used to being fed a lot.

One bit me back at Hebert's that day. But still nothing like the full frontal onslaught at the fish cleaning station at Cal. Pt. I had one there steal my filet knife and try to take me out.

And I thought for sure the one on the deck was going to take a huge crap when he left. Luckily for the both of us he didn't.
