Default Help

I was going fishing in my small alum boat.. Was following some traffic out of town when a car about 3 cars up decided to turn left...

Well I braked to hard.. A bolt holding my winch and frame on my trailer broke.. My heavy custom alum hull (Think Gaudet Type)
Came forward then the winch frame broke, the boat pushed frame and down... The point of my bow slams into my tailgate. Bending it inward ... My tailgate is totaled...

Had to get my son to come help me get the boat back on the trailer were it goes..

It bent the winch frame and bow stop all to hell..... Well I've spend the last 4 hrs. heating the frame with a torch, straightening frame, and supports, and getting it all back together.

Can the Attached be fixed?? Or worth fixing??? No collision insurance.. Truck is paid off...

I was going fishing in my small alum boat.. Was following some traffic out of town when a car about 3 cars up decided to turn left...

Well I braked to hard.. A bolt holding my winch and frame on my trailer broke.. My heavy custom alum hull (Think Gaudet or Scully Type)

Well I've spend the last 4 hrs. heating the winch frame with a torch, straightening frame, and supports, and getting it all back together.

Can this be fixed at a low reasonable price... No collision insurance.. Truck as been paid off...

Is my best bet a salvage yard??? Then repaint tailgate??

Any help would be appreciated...

Thks

Might be cheaper to just buy a used tail gate

Man hr would be more to fix it then just to buy a used one with the same color or getting someone to paint it.

yep its toast

if you don't mind waiting you can shop around and might find a color match ready to go, otherwise a salvage yard will have them in good shape and should look nice.

repainting it to match will cost you a nice fee so finding a color match is worth the extra time and effort.

this is what you can expect to buy a new replacement and it will need to be painted on top of that, also if you want an original factory replacement you can double those prices.

Do not put an aftermarket gate on it, if you use the truck for anything more than grocery runs. The metal is THIN on the AM gates. Finding a used gate would be the way to go, especially since the handle is broken and, linkages inside are probably bent to pieces. Call my office and, I'll do some checking around for you for a used gate. They're proud of anything that has a Toyota emblem on in so, brace for impact. We replaced Meaux Fishin's gate on his Tundra and, I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $700-800 by the time it was done and, that was a used gate.

My office number is 225-647-2772.
