Default The Burns 4/27/2016

Fished 5:45-7:30 with a friend. Caught 10. Biggest was a 2.1 lb'er that I considered releasing but he was hooked pretty deep and bleeding. Flukes and worms.
Hyacinth is really getting bad out there.

Those canals used to be wide open. It's kinda messed up to watch this happen to a pretty place.

Looks like fun. I know that the fish like that hyacinth though. We have a camp where it would grow out really far out along the bank. You could pull some up in the middle and then fish in the opening. We pitchforked them out a few times and the amount of crawfish, fish, shrimp, and stuff that lives in the roots is crazy. But it's tough on a motor. Did you catch the bluegill on a bass rod?

Where exactly is the launch to get to the burns? I have never heard of it but I haven't bass fished down near Lake Charles area.

They sell permits for $40 at local tackle stores and a couple of convenience stores in SWLA.
From Leesville, just head south on Hwy. 171 and you don't turn until it turns left into Hwy. 14 east. Follow that and it turns into Hwy. 27.
Right before the Gibbstown Bridge you turn left and there's the launch.
If you go over the bridge, the first left you take is another launch.

Anyone have a map of the Miami property that shows the names of the different canals and ditches?

Oh ok. Thanks. I will have to look into it. I went to the jetties and launched out of Cameron about a month ago and seen people fishing back in there.

That's crazy. My buddy and I fished Vernon today and found some under some shad. Everyone we caught was throwing up shad.
