Doesn't matter when they spawn If you remove a fish in December or any other month it will never spawn

Of course, but that neglects the fact that a lot of the fish caught in December would have never spawned anyway, because there are a lot of other predators and ways to die out there for a 12-15" trout.

Is is misleading and manipulative to suggest that every trout not caught in December will spawn the following spring and summer.

I'd have to look at their numbers more carefully to be sure, but odds are that most of the eggs are laid by the older females. Protecting the 20+" fish all year would likely do more to enhance reproduction than a three month closure on all the fish, which likely protects mostly the smaller fish.

Louisiana has plenty of fish to share with our fine neighbors from MS who are willing to pay $90 each to fish for LA Specks and buy lots of gas, and lunch, and bait along the way.

Bruh you are preaching to the choir. I am not agreeing with anything they are doing. Just pointing out to W in response to his statement about them not spawning during those months. It doesn't matter when you close the season (spawning time or dead of winter) it makes no difference because that fish will never spawn

Some of the problems with Louisiana fishermen are greed and arrogance. And ignorance. That's what's going to destroy one of the greatest fisheries in the world.

Don't be so sure you have enough of those natural resources for everyone. Even if it's the case today, it might not be the case always.

I'm speaking from careful review of all the available stock assessments. I've spent hundreds of hours reviewing stock assessments of spotted sea trout in the Gulf of Mexico. I've spent hundreds more hours on boat ramps and boat docks personally overseeing creel surveys.

Louisiana has plenty to share. That's not greed or arrogance or ignorance, it's the best available scientific information.

I understand well that Louisiana's natural resources need careful monitoring and harvest restrictions when the best scientific information supports that. I am in favor of ongoing closures of redfish for commercial fisherman, the ongoing ban of using nets to harvest specks, and more restrictive oystering methods in Calcasieu (tongs). But there is no scientific data showing any need for more restrictive spotted seatrout regulations in Louisiana for the 2016-2017 season.

It aint about the spawn as the catch ability and fishing pressure. Sometimes ya aughta think something through fore ya holler STUPID or it will be on you. Fishing down highway 23 bout to get busy and I know lots of folks down there very happy to take Mississippi money.

Jan - March is probably the slowest time of the year for fishing dude to trout transition and winds

So closing those months do zero to help population in Mississippi

As far as people coming to La waters In those months to fish , your not going to see a great increase of pressure.

Fishing is already slow so why drive the extra miles for same result

Maybe where you are, but the east side of the state in dead of winter is a great time to catch trout because like Cappy said, they are stacked up in deep holes. You can walk across the boats in Oak River and other deep spots like the Sulfur mine are pretty thick with folks

My uncle was telling me that one of the other proposals was to cut the limit from 15 to 4... starting to sound a lot like NC were you can only keep either 1 or 2, and the fish has to be over 20".

It is mind boggling to see what those scientist and lobbiests wants to do to our way of life.
