turn outdoor unit off and leave the indoor fan running all the time by switching it to the "on" position.
in a few hours the coil in the attic will be melted and then you will start to feel good strong airflow again. at this point if the fan is blowing good out of the vents, you can turn the outdoor unit back on and leave the fan running all the time in the "on" position. this should let it run fine until Monday when you can get it checked out at normal price rates. whats going to happen is the coil may ice up a little but when the outdoor unit turns off the fan will keep running and melt any ice buildup as it happens so this lets you reach a happy medium where the unit does not completely freeze up. it will also help to set it a little warmer then you normally do until you get it fixed. now I will assume you did make sure your air filter is clean or that could be your whole problem. often a coil can be dirty and not yet require survive but add a dirty filter to reduce the air flow even more and it starts freezing over, see it all the time. hope this gets you through the rest of the weekend OH AND DONT FORGET AFTER ITS FIXED TO SWITCH THE FAN SWITCH BACK TO THE "AUTO" POSITION Last edited by keakar; 06-08-2014 at 04:25 PM. |
