I know the process for registering the tralior, boat, and motor. But how does the taxes work on the sale?

Goes by the size of the boat (ft) if you are talking about private party

You only pay taxes on the trailer. None on boat and motor. Unless it has changed since 2012.

If motor is not already titled and the previous owner was in Louisiana then you do not have to title motor ....... If you ever plan on selling it the best thing to do it register and title all three .... It cost a bit more but makes it much easier sell later

Bought an aluminum boat this past weekend and was given a bill of sale and registration application for boating has louisiana reg #, and bill if sale when previous owner bought it. Will that be enough to transfer the boat to me?
